My devotion to telling love stories was sparked in 2015 while I was in the midst of planning and designing my own wedding. Now, I’ve helped over forty couples cultivate and execute the wedding of their dreams, from their save the dates down to the very last dance. The coronavirus hit the wedding industry hard, and like so many I was forced to close my doors. While it was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made, it did give me the opportunity to weigh my passions and figure out what was next for me. One thing that never wavered was how much I adored stationery design, from conceptualization to execution. Reading through old messages and reviews, I realized that I was able to make an impact on a couples’ wedding day through my custom invitations alone – and so, the Paperie was born. I will always have a special place in my heart for the wedding industry and everything that it taught me, but I look forward to hand-crafting paper goods for every occasion.

I took an event graphics course in college, and my professor taught me to always cultivate a concept before designing anything. I carry that sentiment with me in everything I do. It starts with a consultation, one that usually ends with ideas spinning around my head that I can't wait to get down on paper. From there I build out a personalized design concept based on all of those little details. Learning my clients' stories is one of my favorite parts of the job, because no two are ever alike. I treat my work the same way.

Not only is every suite one-of-a-kind, but each individual piece comes out a little bit differently, because I painstakingly make every last one by hand. My work is not for everybody. There's a beauty in crisp lines hot off the professional press just as well. For those who appreciate a nuanced aesthetic; some hand-torn paper, a poured wax seal, or a tiny ink splotch from the letterpress might just be the perfect personal touch. Every piece will be crafted with care. I source my paper and many of my materials from other small businesses, much of it being handmade itself. The magic happens in my own home studio, first with writing out a concept, then finding inspiration, and finally creating. Sketching, watercoloring, vectoring in the computer, or supporting fellow artists for the perfect element – the medium I choose is dependent on the client and their concept, and I will never repeat a design twice.

Antiqued Soul: With Jen + Pat's love for old books, an antique look was the perfect fit to go along with Jen's DIY library-card save-the-dates. Deckled edges, a handmade floral stamp border, and letterpress brought this design home. (Photo by Kelly Giarrocco)

Wine + Beer: This letterpress invitation suite was inspired by Karli + Geordan's love of fine wine and craft beer. Coaster save the dates set the tone for all that was to come, and I must say spilling wine and beer and creating rings was some of the most fun I've had in the art creation stage.

Some other benefits of my hyper-personal process include the ability to send out different versions of a design (or different designs all together, like Chrissy & Michael's save the dates above), event-day products that flow seamlessly (like menus, signs, place cards, and more), a matching website (yes, I code too), and a lower price point (seriously, let's chat). My goal is to customize each piece to the point of recognition by the recipient. Your stationery should be a reflection of you, whether it's wedding invitations or holiday cards. Finding new ways to visually represent a unique client is my passion. How can we tell your story?

Modern Romance: Jake + Julia first met on Bumble. Their mutual sarcasm and love for the nontraditional inspired this humorous and out-of-the-box design, while still giving a nod to their origin story. (Photos by Samantha Jay Photography
