The Tornquist Wedding

Oct 21, 2017

With a waterfall as their backdrop, Phil and Julie said their vows in front of only their closest friends and family. This intimate fall ceremony was held at the gorgeous Bushkill Falls, followed by a dinner party at The Shawnee Inn. With only 25 guests, these two were able to celebrate their love in a unique and special way. Julie exuded happiness and joy, while Phil's complete adoration for his new wife shone brightly throughout the day. I feel truly honored to have been a part of the planning, styling, and design of this beautiful wedding.

The couple decided to go with a first look. These moments were captured beautifully by Bartlett Pair Photography, and I truly enjoyed working with such amazing photographers. Phil & Julie had their first look in the same space their ceremony would be held only hours later, making it even more special. Coordination was tricky, but it was absolutely worth it. The ceremony was held in front of the Main Falls - a breathtaking view, especially on such an incredible fall day. Guests gathered on the stairs to watch as two halves became whole. Friends and family of the bride and groom recited readings, adding a personal touch to the ceremony itself. A kiss sealed the deal, and there wasn't a dry eye to be found. Seeing the excitement these two had for each other and for their future was a gift that I will never forget.

Burgundy tones mixed with blush pinks and reds to create the perfect fall color palette, while a sparing use of pumpkins helped hone in on the tones of the changing leaves. This wedding day was the epitome of October in every way. Roses and hanging amaranthus united in stunning floral displays from Central Park Flowers, while a custom-made sign from Signed by M welcomed guests to share in the day's celebration. Each element of this wedding worked together in a cohesive way, making memories that will last a lifetime.

Once the ceremony concluded and warm hugs were given, guests were taken to The Shawnee Inn for a formal dinner party. The gorgeous florals, pumpkins, and decor from the ceremony were echoed in the Kirkwood Room, bringing the autumn landscape inside. Each guest was greeted with a jack-be-little pumpkin at their place setting, along with a hand-lettered place card. A unique puzzle guest book will have a special place in their home forever, along with the memories in their hearts. Great food, drinks, and dancing were enjoyed into the night - the perfect ending to Phil and Julie's wedding day.

From the couple:

“We worked with Amy to plan our October 2017 wedding. Amy helped us with our rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, and a brunch the next morning. We had so many ideas and questions, and Amy was there for us every step of the way! Amy took the time to get to know us and what we wanted in order translate it all into the perfect event. She was full of great ideas and suggestions. She has connections with vendors and shops on Etsy who we ended up using for signs and favors. She also prepped us for our meetings with the florist and bakery, so we felt prepared and knew what to ask to ensure we were getting exactly what we wanted. Amy was so helpful, and it all came together perfectly! Our families still talk about how ‘us’ the wedding was and say it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to. That’s a true compliment to how amazing Amy is and all the hard work she does. Thank you Amy for helping us with all the big decisions and all the small details, and thank you for being there for us from our engagement to the second we walked down the aisle.”
